Joel G. and Kathy W. Zachry are your guides for trips, backpacking, and travel adventures. Joel and Kathy are also the owners of Great Outdoor! Adventure Travel.

  • Both have M.S. degrees
    • Joel--biologist, 30 years college and university teaching, retired
    • Kathy--biomedical engineer, 15 years in medical products industry
  • The Zachrys have more than 20-years' experience leading trips through the cooperative University of Tennessee/National Park Service Smoky Mountain Field School.
  • Together they have hiked over 1,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail, led numerous trips to Alaska, Colorado, Montana, Maine, and Outer Banks.
  • They enjoy bringing others to the wonders of nature.
